Overall smartphone sales in Australia are forecast to grow 16.2 percent this year to 9.1 million units. Industry analyst outfit Gartner says it is expecting smartphone sales to bounce back to close to 2019 levels, after a decline in 2020. Gartner is confident enough to declare 5G the next frontier of growth for smartphones here. Earlier we got to look at some AirPods 3 renders and now Chinese audio blog 52audio is giving us a live look at Apple’s next-gen TWS earbuds. The design is just as depicted in the previous leak with shorter stems than the AirPods 2 and more in line with the AirPods Pro. Apple has delayed the launch of its AirPods 3, with respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tipping the release to now fall in the third quarter of 2021. Kuo had originally estimated the AirPods 3 to launch in the first half of 2021. Google is reportedly reviving plans to launch its own news website in Australia very soon. The search engine giant – who is currently locked in a battle with the government and ACCC over planned legislation regarding paid news – is tipped to release News Showcase in Australia. Google’s news site would run with the help of local outlets which would provide content, including The Conversation.
